Jerga is one of Mexico City's top djs, he has been surrounded by music
since the day he was born, he started making mix tapes in fourth grade
with his parents record collection which was a large mix of everything
from 60's psychedelic rock, to jazz and funk to 70's disco music and
everything in between.
So 60's psychedelic rock and 70's disco music will always be the biggest
influence in his life and his music, he went to music school in Mexico
and then moved to Los Angeles, California to continue his
studies, specializing in harmony and electric bass.
There he met DJ
Decibel who taught him all about djing and changed his life for ever, he
started buying records mostly breakbeats and acid house, and went to
every party he could, the desert raves in the early 90's were a big
influence on his djing, specialy DJ Daniel's wicked style, he started
playing some local parties in the venice beach area
and in 96 he moved back to mexico where he and his partner DJ Itzone
opened what would be the first record store in Mexico City specialized
in underground beats, called "groovadelia".
From 96 until 2000 he played all over Mexican territory, Canada,
Colombia and Costa Rica finding his own style which covered a lot of
diferent tipes of electronic music. In 98 his friends did a party with
Ricardo Villalobos and he had the chance to play with him in mexico a
few times, this also was a big influence on his djing style.
In the year
2000 the U-Site crew ran into Jerga in Mexico and invited him to play at
their new years 2000 party in a mexican beach. After this they invited
him to play at the Fusion Festival in Germany, and after this things
were never the same... He had the chance to play right before Der Dritte
Raum and this festival and the whole german scene changed his music and
his life forever.
After this he went back to Mexico and ran into long
time friend and hi tech producer Luca Ortega and they started producing
their own music under the name "Lineas de Nazca",
and ever since then they have been touring extensively all over europe
every year, playing in underground clubs and festivals in
France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland
and South America.
In 2004 he started his own label mineral with DJ Decibel
and released music from their own project "Modelo Espacial" with great
response from djs and critics all over the world.
In 2005 him and Luca released their first EP from Lineas de Nazca on the
funky berlin label eintakt having the most amazing response from djs and press, Luciano included
one of their tracks for his "sci fi hi fi" mix cd on the Soma label, Craig
Richards also included one of their tracks for his tales of the two
headed monster mix cd on the Orson label and they got charted by a
bunch of artists and some of their most admired artists and djs. On may
2006 came out the new Lineas de Nazca EP on eintakt with remixes from
some of their good friends Mikael Stavostrand, Jacek Sienkiewicz and
Einklang freier Frequenzen... and the story continues...
Doing his 2 monthly parties when he is in Mexico "where's my bitches"
and "kiss the sky"
that have become a classic in Mexico's City underground scene and
finishing his first EP with his rock band "Zatharah" and in the summer
of 2006 going back to europe to play both with Lineas de Nazca and also
doing dj gigs all over the place.
His dj style is a mix of minimal house, acid house, funky techno, breakbeats
with some electro and progressive beats all mixed with a
flawless technique that he has been crafting for more than 13 years...
